Proposition 8

Proposition 8 has been passed in California.

I find it rather disgusting
i was linked to a post on a forum:

This post displays alot of my own feelings.
No i am not gay or am in a gay relationship.
But i have friends.

When i announced I was getting engaged, a friend of mine, in a strong relationship
turned and asked me:
"when your thinking about your engagement, do me a favour and tell Kevin Rudd about it and ask him why one of your friends can't marry the person she loves."

it was not meant to be insulting, it was simply stating the fact that she does not have the same rights as I do.
It makes no sense that she does not deserve the same happiness that i do, including getting to marry the one you love.

She is not only denied that right, but if, god forbid, one of them was sick, she could be denied rights to see her and to find out what is wrong with her, because our medical system does not acknowledge her relationship, unless she is married.

Proposition 8 gets to me, because they took away a right that they had already approved.
Being told your allowed to marry your partner and to do so, only for it to be taken away and to be told that your marriage is void, that is a load of crap in my opinion!!!

I was brought up believing that everyone deserved the same rights and privilleges!
I cannot understand why society denies such rights.

I once heard a quote which i quite like.

"Its not who you love, Its how you love that matters"

It should not matter to anyone who they love whether they be gay, straight, bi, black, white, asian etc.
none of this should matter, it should matter that they both love and respect each other.
Nothing else should Matter.

Same Sex Marriage is banned for the pure fact, people are too stuck in their ways to see that only love should matter.
And as quoted in that blog post.
Some people just find it "icky" at how they make love.

Stupid Stupid Shit Reasons!!!!!

How would people like it if suddenly they were denied the right to marry whom they love..

Straight marriages encounter similar things, as disapproved relationships from family members and such, and people get in to such uproars about it..

Well, it is the same sort of things, just instead of (say) parents disapproving their childs love for somebody, it is 'society' denying this..

And yes, I say society, because it is up to society to help make things like this happen.. It was enough people in society to disapprove it, it can be changed again...
